Meeting point Gottsunda
The meeting point is located in Stenhammarsparken, a park adjacent to some of Uppsalahem’s residential areas in Gottsunda. In order to create a more attractive space for interaction, Stenhammarsparken has been equipped with a new outdoor stage as well as large parasols placed in three different locations in the park. Activities in the park include theatre and dance shows, outdoor training sessions, information booths, outdoor games and much more. Common for all activities is that they focus on children and families. During the fall and winter season, the park and its pathways will be illuminated by art lighting.
As part of the project, the model of “Huskurage” has been implemented in all of Uppsalahem’s apartment buildings in Gottsunda. Huskurage is a method for preventing domestic violence by giving information about how you can act as a concerned neighbour. Important parts in the implementation process are information to Uppsalahem’s staff and education meetings with tenants that has taken place during spring and fall of 2018.
A central part of the project is Uppsalahem’s employment of local youth of age 16-25 living in the district of Gottsunda. The employees plan, organize, and host all activities throughout the summer. As a concluding activity, they will receive job-coaching as a mean to help them in their future career. In order to keep the activities going during the entire year two of the employees were hired to be responsible for the activities during fall, winter and spring and their work include keeping the location i Stenhammarsparken manned during weekends and school holidays, but also to plan for the upcoming summer season when there will be activities five or six days a week.
