Vallecas Ensanche 20-132 with local public protection dwellings and garages in Madrid

The project is the result of a restricted competition held in 2003. Each team must provide the best solution architecture that is capable of imagining, provided that the "economic" parameters of solar, buildable and number of dwellings were met, given provided that was a promotion of social housing. The winning proposal was this tower of 22 floors, relying on the efficiency of the plant and the solution of the functional program of rental housing. Among the protected, they are most must conform to the minimum dimensional regulations. On the ground, the building occupies 70% of the limit set by the alignment, with widespread setback to release more public space on the front sidewalk access and natural outpouring of commercial use of the ground floor. This setback avoids the typical construction of the extension chamfers and work with a sharper volume geometry. For the same floor area, reducing the footprint of the building necessarily involves growing in height and in this case a cut volume ratio rare profile is proposed. The solution is to plan geometrical basis "dual symmetry", blurring the different parts.
